  1. Skylab is a US space station, launched on the 
  2. 14th of May 1973, made from the adapted upper 
  3. stage of a Saturn V rocket. At 75tonnes (82╜ 
  4. tons), it was the heaviest object ever put 
  5. into space, and was 25.6m (84ft) long. Skylab 
  6. contained a workshop for carrying out 
  7. experiments in weightlessness, an observatory 
  8. for monitoring the Sun, and cameras for 
  9. photographing the Earth's surface.
